Over 6 million buttons have been collected in the region, nationally and internationally for an installation and education programme. Funded by Kirklees Museum and Galleries, this innovative and brave work addresses, reflects and engages the viewer on the horrors of genocide and inspirationally projects a positive message that promotes the theme “each person can make a difference”. The exhibition is currently on tour and the intention is to create a permanent memorial in Kirklees with the buttons at some point in the future.  When the exhibition opened, there were six million, thirty two thousand, five hundred and eighteen buttons. People are still sending in buttons.

The Leeds Owl Trail, Leeds, UK

Leeds Owl Team www.leedsowltrail.com

The purpose of the "Leeds Owl Trail" is to inform and inspire people about Leeds' rich heritage and to create new owls for future generations to enjoy.  The launch of the trail took place in May 2009 with a map and website www.leedsowltrail.com.

Artists: Antonia Stowe and Clifford Stead developed the original concept of "The Leeds Owl Trail" and have undertaken significant historical research around the owls in Leeds.  James Brown and Rosalind Wilson have recently joined the Owl Team responsible for launching the first part of the trail in partnership with the Leeds Civic Trust.  The "Leeds Owl Trail" shows ten diverse locations in Leeds City Centre each sporting its own unique owl. The public are invited to email the owl team sending information and images of other Owl locations and information so they can be added to the map at a later date.
