Trinity Leeds

In 2013 Land Securities successfully opened the doors to Trinity Leeds, a new shopping centre with its own collection of artworks, an iconic architecturally impressive glass roof and interactive digital media screens.  The strategy for the art programme was designed and developed by Antonia.  The procurement process for each commission from fabrication to installation was project managed by Antonia with the development team. With a background as a professional practitioner/sculptor Antonia  worked closely with the artists, supporting their progress  whilst fully meeting the clients requirements.

“Antonia worked for Land Securities on our Trinity Leeds Retail Scheme in central Leeds for three years as Arts Facilitator and did an excellent job in the role. From inception to completion she worked with the team to write the briefs, source artists, commission them and the team to deliver Art commissions across the project and across the art spectrum. Antonia is very committed to the projects she undertakes and provides a first class service at all times. Her thoroughness and experience were a huge value to the team and the project.”

It is the heartbeat of a city built on a long legacy of creativity, culture and innovation.   This is reflected in the art programme that has introduced exceptional art and creativity, enlivening spaces, providing landmark places to meet, a talking point and different points of interest.

‘Equus Altus’, Andy Scott’s packhorse is a central feature in the atrium. Not so far from the sixteen metre high sculpture is a unique and impressive contemporary gate located  against the splendid backdrop of Holy Trinity Church.   Sited around the other side of the church, nestling against the dark moor stone are illuminated sunken, half halos of curved glass designed to be sculptural playful seats.   Located at the main entrance to Trinity Leeds on Briggate also by Andy Scott is the ‘Briggate Minerva’.    The sculptured Briggate Minerva offers the cloth to Briggate making a significant historical reference to the past, whilst her mask perhaps acknowledges the theatre, creativity and future of the city.    Inside the atrium the Trinity Leeds Owl shines like a jewel, gilded bright gold and silver and perched high above for people to discover.  On Bank Street a story gate shows the commerce and heritage of the past, a testimony of how the city has evolved and thrived over the centuries.
