The Making of the Trinity Leeds Art Programme 12 Minutes

Trinity Leeds is a £350 Million shopping centre in the heart of Leeds. It opened in 2013 with a series of artworks that saw creative investment installed into the fabric of the building and in streets around.   A fourteen metre tall ‘Equus Altus’ Packhorse and ‘ Minerva’ by Andy Scott are the feature works. Other commissions include an golden owl, gates, seating as well as many more exciting projects throughout the development programme.   Since opening I have continued to commission temporary events and these include graffiti artists, illusions and many more.

This is the full movie showing the creation of the Trinity Leeds Art Programme, the thought behind the development of the art programme. The film introduces the artists and follows their ideas through the fabrication process during the building development programme. Excellent public artworks are then installed into Land Securities, Trinity Leeds retail scheme and in external main pedestrian streets and spaces around the shopping centre. Working with artists Andy Scott, Antonia Stowe, Chris Campbell, Ian Judd, Eva Mileusnic and Mike Disley alongside a number of temporary artistic projects and events. The Trinity Leeds Art Programme comprises of Permanent Artwork, Temporary Artwork and Live Events that form part of the Events Strategy that is ongoing. The art facilitator role has been undertaken by Antonia Stowe Artist, Curator and Facilitator for Trinity Leeds/Land Securities.

Trinity Leeds Graffiti Art Live 1.30 minutes

An old battered car becomes part of a stage set located above Apple in Trinity Leeds. The backdrop is the Trinity Leeds Shopping centre and the set is a strange mix of boards, street scene and it is all painted white.  For one week only the set remains the same. Then one Saturday a squat team of graffiti artists led by Leeds’ very own BRETSKI descends to blast the scene with colour. Taking requests from customers and the general public the whole scene changes from hour to hour. At the end of a fantastic day the creation is left as an exhibit for two weeks. The car is then taken away and crushed to become a seat in Trinity Kitchen.

The car has been driven over 100.000 miles and its final destination is Trinity Kitchen in Trinity Leeds for all to sit on! Created by Antonia Stowe Art Facilitator for Trinity Leeds.

Jump on the sound at Trinity Leeds 4 minutes

As part of the Land Securities, Trinity Leeds Retail scheme the Art Programme commissioned a series of events to enliven and engage audiences. This Jump on the Sound mat was taken into the streets and some very funny and entertaining things happened. See what you think!

100 Buskers Trinity Leeds 2 minutes

How do you check out and explore how sound travels outside your front door? What better way to find out than commissioning Heads Together a Yorkshire based arts organisation to develop an idea and have 100 buskers on Briggate.  During the hour of performances we could hear how the sound travelled, how the audiences responded and what it looks and feels like.  Prior to the event taking place rehearsals were held at Holy Trinity Church. These were truly intergenerational, multi talented and cross cultural.  Experienced musicians played alongside very young musicians who were all extremely talented. It was a beautiful event and won’t be forgotten easily. It brought people together with a love of music from all over the city to perform with people they may never normally meet. This was shared with the wider audiences.

Regeneration in Huddersfield The Queensgate Revival Project 6 minutes

This movie was developed with young people to see how they would like their town centre developed. Antonia Stowe worked with Architecture students and schools in and around Huddersfield to explore how the shared spaces could look and feel. This is a real imaginative treat with some great ideas.
